ns1.wixdns.net and ns2.wixdns.net — you won’t be able to add all of the DNS records Flowforth requires, and your domain will never finish verifying.
This guide explains why, and what you can do instead.
Why This Happens
To send email from your domain, Flowforth (through our email provider) requires an MX record on a subdomain of your domain — usuallysend.yourchurch.org.
Wix’s DNS editor does not support MX records on subdomains. It only allows MX records on your root domain, and Wix has acknowledged this as an open feature request.
How to Tell If This Affects You
Any one of these means your DNS is on Wix:- Your domain page in Flowforth shows a “Wix nameservers aren’t supported” notice.
- The Provider shown on your domain page in Flowforth is Wix.
- Your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, etc.) lists nameservers that contain
wix— for example,ns1.wixdns.net.
Option 1: Move DNS Management to Another Provider
This is the option we recommend if you want to send email from your own domain. Moving your DNS does not mean moving your website. Your site can stay exactly where it is on Wix — the only thing that changes is where your DNS records are managed. Providers like Cloudflare (free) and Namecheap both handle subdomain MX records without any trouble. Broadly, the process looks like this:- Copy down your current DNS records in Wix.
- Point your domain at the new DNS provider. If your domain is registered with Wix, follow Wix’s guide to transferring your domain away from Wix. If your domain is registered somewhere else and merely points at Wix nameservers, you don’t need to transfer anything — just change the nameservers at your registrar.
- Re-create the records that point your website back at Wix. Wix provides the values you need for this in your Wix domain settings.
- Add the Flowforth DNS records at your new provider, following the guide for that provider and the record list in Managing Domains.
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. If your domain doesn’t verify right away after the move, give it some time and click Records Added again on the domain page.
Option 2: Use a Flowforth-Provided Sending Domain
If you’d rather not touch your DNS at all, we can set you up with a sending address on a domain we own — something likeyourchurch.churchemail.co.
Your emails would send from that address, and we’d set the Reply-To to your normal church email address, so anyone who replies still reaches your regular inbox.
To set this up, contact support@flowforth.co and let us know what subdomain you’d like.
Option 3: Ask Wix
Wix tracks subdomain mailbox support as a feature request. If you’d like to see it supported, you can contact Wix support and add your vote. The more customers who ask, the more likely it is to get built — though we can’t say when or whether that will happen. If you’re not sure which option is right for your church, contact support@flowforth.co and we’ll help you figure it out.
