Before starting, make sure you’ve already added your domain in Flowforth. You’ll need the DNS record values shown on the domain settings page.
Park the Sending Subdomain
Oncord manages MX records for your whole domain, not for individual subdomains. Because Flowforth’s sending records live on a subdomain (e.g.,send.yourdomain.com), you first need to “park” that subdomain as a separate domain in Oncord. This gives it its own DNS zone where you can add the MX record.
- Log in to your Oncord Dashboard
- Click the Settings icon at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar, then select Domains
- Click your main domain to edit it
- Remove any existing records for the sending subdomain (e.g.,
send.yourdomain.com) so they don’t conflict with the new zone, then click Save Configuration — if there are none, skip this step - Return to Settings → Domains and click Park Registered Domain
- Enter the sending subdomain (e.g.,
send.yourdomain.com) as the domain name - Set the Domain Mode to Redirect to the primary domain name
- Click Park Domain
When parking a subdomain of a domain already configured in Oncord, you don’t need to set name servers.
Add the MX Record
The MX record goes in the parked subdomain’s zone, not your main domain:- In Settings → Domains, click the newly parked subdomain (e.g.,
send.yourdomain.com) to edit it - Scroll to the E-mail Hosting section
- Set Where Will Incoming Mail be Delivered? to Host mail elsewhere
- In the MX Entries section, set the Priority to
10 - Copy the MX Value from Flowforth into the MX Server field
- Click Save Configuration
Add the SPF Record (TXT)
The SPF record also goes in the parked subdomain’s zone. While still editing the parked subdomain:- Scroll to the DNS Records table and find the empty row at the bottom
- Enter the full sending subdomain (e.g.,
send.yourdomain.com) in the New Hostname field - Set the Type to
TXT - Copy the TXT Value from Flowforth into the Record field
- Click Save Configuration
Oncord’s Host field uses the full hostname. Enter
send.yourdomain.com, not just send.Add the DKIM Record (TXT)
The DKIM record goes on your main domain:- Go back to Settings → Domains and click your main domain to edit it
- In the DNS Records table, find the empty row at the bottom
- Enter the DKIM host as a full hostname (e.g.,
resend._domainkey.yourdomain.com) in the New Hostname field - Set the Type to
TXT - Copy the DKIM Value from Flowforth into the Record field
- Click Save Configuration
Add the DMARC Record (TXT)
While not strictly required, adding a DMARC record is highly recommended. It improves deliverability and protects your domain’s reputation. This record also goes on your main domain. If your domain already has a DMARC record, you do not need to add another one. You can check by looking for an existing
TXT record with the host _dmarc.yourdomain.com in your DNS Records table.- While editing your main domain, find the empty row at the bottom of the DNS Records table
- Enter the DMARC host as a full hostname (e.g.,
_dmarc.yourdomain.com) in the New Hostname field - Set the Type to
TXT - Copy the DMARC Value from Flowforth into the Record field
- Click Save Configuration
Add the Tracking Records (Optional)
If you enabled click tracking or open tracking when adding your domain in Flowforth, you’ll need these two additional records. You can also enable tracking later from the domain detail page in Flowforth — the records will appear in your DNS table when tracking is turned on.CNAME Record (Tracking)
While editing your main domain, add a new row to the DNS Records table:- Enter the tracking host as a full hostname (e.g.,
links.yourdomain.com) in the New Hostname field - Set the Type to
CNAME - Enter
links1.resend-dns.comin the Record field - Click Save Configuration
CAA Record (Tracking)
Verify in Flowforth
Once all records are added in Oncord, go back to your domain in Settings → Domains and click the “Records Added” button. Flowforth will check your DNS records and verify the setup in the background.Oncord notes that DNS changes can take up to a few hours to take effect, so verification may not succeed right away. If it doesn’t, wait and try again later.
Troubleshooting
- Changes don’t seem to do anything: Confirm your domain points to Oncord’s name servers. If your DNS is hosted externally, changes made within Oncord have no effect — use the guide for your actual DNS provider instead.
- Verification failed: Double-check the records you added in Oncord for copy/paste errors. Make sure hostnames use the full form (e.g.,
send.yourdomain.com, notsend). - Duplicate SPF record: There should only ever be one SPF record per hostname. If one already exists on the sending subdomain, edit it rather than adding a second one.
- Still not verifying after 72 hours: Contact support@flowforth.co and we’ll help you debug the issue.
