Every email sent through Flowforth includes an Update Your Preferences link in the footer. It opens your organization’s email preference center — a page where recipients manage what they receive from you, without contacting your team. You can customize how this page looks with your logo and colors — see Customizing Your Unsubscribe Page.

What Recipients Can Do

On the preference center, a recipient can:
  • Unsubscribe from everything — opt out of all emails from your organization.
  • Unsubscribe from specific categories — opt out of just the email categories they don’t want, while continuing to receive the rest.
  • Resubscribe to a category — turn a category back on that they previously opted out of.
  • Resubscribe to everything — if they previously unsubscribed from all emails, they can opt back in themselves.
  • Report the sender — flag your organization’s emails as unwanted or abusive. Reports go to the Flowforth team for review, not to your organization.
Categories marked as hidden from the preferences page don’t appear here — see Email Categories for how to control which categories recipients can manage.

Recipients have three ways to opt out, and they behave differently:
WhereWhat it does
Unsubscribe link in the email footerOpens a confirmation page, then unsubscribes them from all emails
Update Your Preferences link in the footerOpens the preference center with category-level choices
The email app’s built-in Unsubscribe button (Gmail, Apple Mail, etc.)One-click unsubscribe from all emails — no category choices
The built-in unsubscribe button in Gmail and Apple Mail uses the one-click unsubscribe standard, which is always a full opt-out. If a recipient tells you they “unsubscribed from everything by accident,” this is usually how it happened — they can resubscribe from the preference center, or you can resubscribe them from their person page.
