Flowforth integrates with Canva so you can use your existing Canva designs in your emails. Browse your designs, import them as images, or create full emails from Canva Email templates, all without leaving Flowforth.

Connecting Your Canva Account

Each user connects their own Canva account. This means multiple team members can each connect their own Canva accounts independently.
  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Canva.
  2. Click Connect to Canva.
  3. You’ll be redirected to Canva to authorize the connection.
  4. After authorizing, you’ll be redirected back to Flowforth.
Once connected, you’ll see a green indicator showing your connection status and the date you connected.
Each Canva account can only be connected to one Flowforth user. If someone else in your organization has already connected the same Canva account, you’ll need to use a different Canva account or have them disconnect first.

Browsing Your Designs

Once connected, you can browse your Canva designs from the Settings > Integrations > Canva page. You’ll see a grid of your designs with thumbnails and titles.
  • Search for designs by name using the search bar.
  • Scroll to load more designs as you go.
  • Refresh the list using the refresh button to see your latest designs.

Using Canva Designs in Emails

There are two ways to use your Canva designs in Flowforth emails:

1. Import a Design as an Image

You can import any Canva design as an image to use in the drag-and-drop email editor.
  1. Open the email editor and click Canva in the sidebar to open the Canva browser.
  2. Search for and select a design.
  3. Flowforth will export and compress the design, then add it to your email as an image block.
Imported designs are saved to your organization’s asset library, so you can reuse them in other emails.

2. Create a Canva Email

You can create a full email from a Canva Email template. This imports the complete HTML layout, images, and styles from your Canva design.
  1. Go to Emails and click New Email.
  2. Select Canva as the email type.
  3. Browse your Canva designs and select an Email template.
  4. Flowforth will process the design and create your email. You’ll be automatically taken to the email editor when it’s ready.
Only Canva designs created with the Email template type can be used to create Canva emails. Other design types (social media posts, presentations, etc.) can still be imported as images.
Canva emails are HTML-based. When Flowforth processes your Canva Email template, it automatically converts Canva’s placeholder links to Flowforth merge tags:
  • Canva’s unsubscribe placeholder becomes @unsubscribe
  • Canva’s update preferences placeholder becomes @manage-preferences
  • Canva’s view in browser placeholder becomes @view-in-browser

Refreshing a Canva Asset

If you update a design in Canva after importing it, you can refresh the asset in Flowforth to pull in the latest version.
  1. In the email editor, select the image block that contains the Canva asset.
  2. Click the Refresh from Canva button in the sidebar.
  3. Flowforth will re-export the design and update the image in place.
Only the person who originally imported the asset can refresh it. Assets from sent emails cannot be refreshed.

Disconnecting Your Canva Account

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Canva.
  2. Click Disconnect.
  3. Confirm the disconnection.
After disconnecting, you will no longer be able to browse or import Canva designs. Any assets you previously imported will remain in your asset library.
