# Sharing an Email Before It's Sent

> Make a draft or scheduled email viewable at its public link before you send it, so others can preview it.

Normally an email is only viewable on its public link once it has been sent. If you want to share an email for review or approval **before** it goes out, you can turn on **Visible before sent** for that specific email.

This is useful for:

* Getting sign-off from a pastor, board member, or teammate before sending
* Previewing exactly how the email will look on the web
* Sharing a scheduled email with someone ahead of its send time

## Requirements

Before you can share an email early, the email must be assigned to a category that has its [public page enabled](/emails/public-category-pages). The early-share link uses that same public category page, so if the category isn't public, the Share button will prompt you to enable it first.

## How to Turn It On

1. Open a **draft**, **scheduled**, or **failed** email.
2. Click the **Share** button in the top right.
3. Toggle on **Visible before sent**.

Once enabled, the Share menu gives you the same options as a sent email:

* **View Email in Browser** — Opens the email's public link in a new tab
* **Copy Link** — Copies the shareable URL to your clipboard

  **Visible before sent** is an explicit, per-email opt-in. Other draft and scheduled emails stay private until you turn it on for each one individually.

## The Link

The early-share link is the **same** public link the email will have after it's sent:

https://yourchurch.flowforth.co/emails/your-slug/12345
```

Because it's the same URL, a link you share for review keeps working after the email is sent — it never breaks or changes.

  The preview always shows the **latest saved version** of your email. As you keep editing and saving, the shared link updates to match.

## What People See

Anyone with the link can open it — no login required. They see the email exactly as it will be sent, with all images and formatting.

Just like a shared sent email, recipient-specific details aren't shown:

* Merge tags appear as generic placeholders
* Unsubscribe and personalized links aren't filled in

  An email shared before send is reachable by **direct link only**. It never appears in the category's public archive or on the **Latest Email** link until it has actually been sent.

## Turning It Off

To stop sharing an email early, open it, click **Share**, and toggle **Visible before sent** back off. The link stops working immediately.

Once the email is sent, it becomes publicly viewable on its category page as normal, regardless of this setting.
