# Owner Email Copies

> Get a copy of every bulk email your organization sends delivered straight to your own inbox.

Owners can opt in to receive a **copy of every bulk email your organization sends**, delivered to their own inbox. It's an easy way to see exactly what your congregation received — in a real inbox, in a real email app — without opening Flowforth.

<Note>
  Only **organization owners** can receive email copies, and the setting is
  **off by default** for everyone.
</Note>

***

## Turning it on

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Members settings">
    Go to **Settings** from the sidebar, then click
    [Members](https://flowforth.co/settings/members).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Manage Permissions">
    Click the **⋯** next to the person's name and choose **Manage
    Permissions**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Make sure their role is Owner">
    The **Email copies** section only appears for the **Owner** role.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the box">
    Under **Email copies**, check **Send a copy of every email to this person's
    inbox**, then click **Save**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  You can turn this on for **yourself**. Open **Manage Permissions** on your own
  row — your role is locked, but the **Email copies** checkbox is editable — so
  even an organization with a single owner can opt itself in.
</Tip>

If you change an owner to a **Member**, email copies are turned off
automatically, since only owners can receive them. Learn more in
[Roles and Permissions](/organization/roles-and-permissions).

## What a copy looks like

The copy is the **same email your recipients got**, sent from the campaign's own
from name and address, with a few deliberate differences.

### The subject line

The subject is the email's subject with **`[Copy]`** in front of it — for
example, `[Copy] This Sunday at Grace Church`.

If your subject line contains merge tags, they are **left unfilled** in the
copy. That's on purpose: each real recipient received their own personalized
subject, and showing the raw tag makes it obvious the subject was personalized
rather than sent to everyone exactly as you see it.

### The banner

A banner at the top of the copy reads **"You're receiving a copy of this
email"** and summarizes the send:

| Row             | What it shows                                                    |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Subject** | The email's subject line, exactly as it was stored |
| **Sent by** | The person who sent the email |
| **Approved by** | The person who approved it, when the email went through approval |
| **Audience** | The lists, groups, registrations, or people it was sent to |
| **Recipients** | How many people it reached, as "Sent to X of Y recipients" |
| **Sent at** | When the send finished |

The banner also includes a **View this email in Flowforth** link that opens the
sent email's page, where you can see its full metrics.

<Note>
  **Sent at** in the banner is shown in **UTC**, not your organization's
  timezone.
</Note>

### The body

The email body is the real, final version of your email, with two adjustments:

* **Merge tags are filled in with sample data**, so you see a realistic version
  of what a recipient read instead of raw tags.
* **Unsubscribe, preference, and view-in-browser links are disabled.** Clicking
  them does nothing, so you can't accidentally unsubscribe a real person or
  change someone's preferences from your copy.

## When copies are sent

A copy goes out for **every bulk email campaign that sends to at least one
recipient**, including:

* Emails you send right away
* [Scheduled sends](/emails/cancelling-a-scheduled-email)
* Emails that went through [send approval](/emails/approving-send-requests)

Copies are **not** sent for:

* [Test emails](/emails/test-emails)
* Automation emails
* Resends and retries of an individual recipient

<Tip>
  Owner copies arrive after a campaign is already out the door, so they're a
  record — not a proofreading step. To check an email **before** it sends, use a
  [test email](/emails/test-emails) or
  [share it for review](/emails/sharing-before-send).
</Tip>

## What copies don't affect

Owner copies are intentionally invisible to the rest of Flowforth:

* They **don't count against your plan's send limit**.
* They **never appear in the email's metrics** and can't change its open, click,
  bounce, or unsubscribe rates. The people in your reports are your actual
  recipients, and only them.
* If a copy fails to deliver for any reason, it **has no effect on the real
  send** — your congregation still receives the email normally.
