# Group Stats

> See who joined a Planning Center group from your email, and whether they clicked the link first.

<Note>
  Group Stats is currently an **experiment**. We'd love your feedback — use the
  **Share feedback** link at the top of the tab, or email
  [support@flowforth.co](mailto:support@flowforth.co).
</Note>

When you email people about a group, the most important question is: **did this email actually get anyone to join?** Group Stats answers that by matching the people you emailed to the group memberships and join requests in Planning Center.

## When You'll See the Groups Tab

The **Groups** tab appears on the post-send page when the email was sent to a **Planning Center audience** (a list, person, group, or registration — anything but a CSV upload), and either:

* The email content links to one or more **Church Center groups** (a link like `yourchurch.churchcenter.com/groups/small-groups/tuesday-night`), or
* The email was **sent to a Planning Center group**, in which case that group is measured whether or not the content links to it.

If neither is true, the tab is hidden. The easiest way to add a group link is to [import the group into your email](/integrations/planning-center/importing-content) or use a [Church Center link](/integrations/planning-center/linking-to-content).

## The Four Stat Cards

At the top of the tab you'll see four numbers. Each one is also a **filter** — click a card to show only those people in the table below.

| Card                               | What it means                                                                                                                                                           |
| ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Joined after clicking** | Joined the group **after** the email was sent **and** clicked that group's link in the email. This is the strongest signal that your email drove the join, so it leads. |
| **Joined or requested after send** | Joined the group, or asked to join it, any time after you sent the email. This includes everyone in the first card. |
| **Already in the group** | People you emailed who are members and were already members when the email went out. |
| **Clicked but didn't join** | Clicked a group link in the email but hasn't joined or requested to join. Great for follow-up. |

<Note>
  "Joined after clicking" is matched **per group** — the person clicked the link
  for that specific group and joined that same group. Clicking one group's link
  and joining a different one doesn't count.

## How "Already in the group" Is Worked Out

Planning Center keeps **no snapshot** of who was in a group at the moment your email was sent — only each membership's current join date. So Flowforth computes "already in the group" as:

> everyone you emailed who is a member **today**, minus everyone whose join date falls **after** your send time.

<Warning>
  Two consequences worth knowing: someone who joined after the send and then
  **left again** is invisible to this tab entirely, and a membership whose join
  date is missing in Planning Center is counted as "already in the group"
  because there's no way to prove otherwise.
</Warning>

Join requests are treated the same way: a request that was already pending **before** your send isn't counted as "requested after send", since your email didn't prompt it.

## The People Table

Each row is one person, on one group. If someone is measured against two groups, they appear twice — once per group.

* **Person** — name and email address
* **Group** — which group the row is about
* **Outcome** — one of *Joined after clicking*, *Joined after send*, *Requested to join*, *Already a member*, or *Clicked, didn't join*
* **Joined** — when they joined, or when they asked to
* **Clicked link** — when they clicked that group's link in the email (if they did)

### Filter by Group

If the email covers more than one group, use the **All groups** dropdown to focus on a single one. The stat cards and table update to that group, and a **per-group breakdown** table above the list shows all four numbers for every group at once.

## Exporting

Click **Export** to download a CSV of the currently filtered rows — one line per person and group, including the person, email, group, outcome, join time, request time, and clicked-link time. The file downloads immediately in your browser.

## Data You Can Trust

Group data is pulled **live from Planning Center** each time you open the tab, so the numbers reflect the current state — there's a brief "Getting things ready" step while we fetch it.

Flowforth is transparent about what it can and can't match:

* The two click-based cards need **click tracking** turned on for the sending domain. When it's off, those cards read **Not tracked** rather than showing a misleading zero — and every join still counts, it just can't be attributed to a click.
* The **Filter bot activity** switch on the Details tab doesn't apply here. Click counts on this tab are always unfiltered. See [Email Metrics](/emails/email-metrics#filtering-out-bot-activity).
* If Planning Center won't return **join requests** — some connections can't read them — the tab says so, because a silent zero would read as "nobody asked to join". Joins are still counted; only the request half of **Joined or requested after send** is missing.
* Inbox privacy services (like Apple Mail Privacy Protection) don't affect clicks, but they do mean an open is not a reliable sign that someone read the email. See [Open Rates Explained](/emails/open-rates-explained).
* If a group link in the email **doesn't match any group** in Planning Center (for example, it was deleted, made private, or belongs to a different account), we note that too.
* Very large groups can exceed what we'll page through in one report; when that happens we say the totals may be partial.

***

## Connecting Groups

Reading group memberships requires your organization's Planning Center connection to include the **Groups** scope.

* If your connection **doesn't include Groups**, you'll see a prompt to connect it. An **admin or owner** can expand the connection from [Organization Settings](https://flowforth.co/settings/organization).
* If your connection includes Groups but **your Planning Center user doesn't have permission** to view it, you'll see a message to ask a Planning Center administrator for Groups access.

For more on scopes, see [Importing Content from Planning Center](/integrations/planning-center/importing-content), and for group sends themselves see [Sending to Groups and Registrations](/emails/sending-to-groups-and-registrations).
