# Video Block

> Add YouTube or Vimeo video thumbnails to your emails that link recipients to the video.

The video block lets you feature a video in your email. It displays a thumbnail image with a play button overlay. When a recipient clicks it, the video opens in their browser on YouTube or Vimeo.

<Note>
  Emails do not support inline video playback. The video block generates a clickable thumbnail that links to the original video.
</Note>

***

## Adding a Video Block

Drag the **Video** block from the block palette into your email canvas. Paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL into the **Video URL** field in the sidebar.

***

## Supported Platforms

### YouTube

Supported URL formats:

* `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID`
* `https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID`
* `https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID`
* `https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID`
* `https://www.youtube.com/live/VIDEO_ID`

### Vimeo

Supported URL formats:

* `https://vimeo.com/VIDEO_ID`
* `https://player.vimeo.com/video/VIDEO_ID`

***

## How It Works

When you paste a valid video URL, Flowforth automatically:

1. Fetches the video's thumbnail from YouTube or Vimeo
2. Overlays a play button on the thumbnail
3. Links the entire image to the original video URL

Recipients click the thumbnail to watch the video in their browser.

## Resizing

You can resize the video thumbnail in two ways:

* **Drag the handles** on the block directly in the editor
* **Width percentage** in the sidebar: Set an exact width as a percentage of the email content area

***

## Sidebar Settings

Select a video block to configure the following in the sidebar:

* **Video URL**: The YouTube or Vimeo link
* **Alignment**: Left, center, or right
* **Border Radius**: Round the corners of the thumbnail
* **Border Color**: Set a border color around the thumbnail
* **Border Width**: Control the thickness of the border. Click the **expand icon** to set a different width for each side.

***

## Shared Defaults with Images

Video blocks share their default border styles with image blocks. If you set default styles for images (border radius, border color, border width), those same defaults apply to new video blocks as well.

## Tips

* YouTube Live URLs are supported, so you can promote upcoming livestreams directly in your emails.
* Keep the video thumbnail large enough that the play button overlay is clearly visible and inviting to click.
* Pair a video block with a short text block above it to give context about what the video contains.
