# Organizing Automations with Folders

> Group your automations into folders by ministry, season, or any system that works for your team.

Folders keep the **Automations** page tidy as you build more automations. Group them by ministry, campus, event, or however your team thinks about them.

Automation folders work like [template folders](/emails/email-folders#template-folders): they're a flat list, so folders can't be nested inside other folders.

***

## Creating a Folder

1. Go to **Emails → Automations**.
2. Click **New Folder** next to the New Automation button.
3. Enter a **folder name** (up to 60 characters).
4. Optionally choose a **color** to make the folder easy to spot.
5. Click **Create Folder**.

Your folders appear at the top of the automations table. Click one to open it, and click **Automations** in the breadcrumb to go back.

<Note>Folders are hidden while you search. Search always looks across all of your automations, whatever folder they're in.</Note>

If you click **New Automation** while you're inside a folder, the new automation is created in that folder. Duplicating an automation keeps the copy in the same folder as the original.

***

## Moving Automations to a Folder

To move one automation, open its **⋯** menu and choose **Move to Folder**, then pick a folder.

To move several at once:

1. Select the automations using the checkboxes.
2. Click **Move** in the action bar at the bottom of the screen.
3. Pick a destination folder, or click **New Folder** to create one right there.
4. Click **Move** to confirm.

To take automations out of a folder, move them to **All Automations**.

Moving an automation doesn't change how it runs. Active automations keep running as normal.

***

## Editing or Deleting a Folder

Right-click a folder in the table and choose **Edit**, or open the folder and click its name at the top of the page. From there you can rename it, change its color, or delete it.

Deleting a folder doesn't delete the automations inside it. They move back to the main Automations list.

***

## Who Can See Folders

Automation folders are shared across your organization. Anyone who can work with automations sees every folder. Unlike email folders, automation folders can't be assigned to a team.
